Need help with decisions about an elderly parent, friend or relative?
Consider mediation. A family mediator:
- is a neutral third party trained to help resolve conflicts;
- guiding the family toward consensus on decisions regarding eldercare;
- helping clear up misunderstandings and heal hurt feelings while keeping the family on track;
- involving the loved elder in the process based on their capabilities rather than their perceived incapacities;
- helping persons consider and evaluate as many options as possible;
- encouraging those involved to focus on what is in the best interest of their loved elder.
